Ascent Hospitality in Hammond, IN seeks a skilled Chief Engineer to lead maintenance, oversee HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and carpentry, and supervise the maintenance staff to ensure a smooth guest experience.

You will coordinate renovations, manage budgets and labor, enforce safety and building codes, and train team members on emergency procedures. Hotel operations depend on your leadership and technical expertise to sustain asset protection.

Qualifications

• College degree or college courses related to engineering helpful.
• Vocational Schooling, certification and related experience in HVAC, plumbing and carpentry.
• 3+ years hands on experience in hotel maintenance.
• Hotel experience preferred; knowledge of hotel operations.
• Leadership and strong verbal/written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Ensure a smooth operation and guest experience.
• Monitor compliance with building codes and safety standards (OSHA, Fire Dept.).
• Recruit, interview and assist in recommending maintenance staff.
• Direct maintenance of equipment and building systems (refrigeration, boilers, EMS, etc.).
• Coordinate renovations and remodeling; schedule labor and materials.
• Identify maintenance issues, initiate work orders and track deficiencies.
• Maintain preventive maintenance logs and train staff on emergency procedures.
