Job summary

SpringHill Suites by Marriott- Indianapolis Fishers is seeking a Chief Engineer to oversee maintenance, safety, and operational integrity of the hotel. You will lead HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems and preventive maintenance to ensure a seamless guest experience.

The role manages the maintenance team, coordinates with contractors, and ensures compliance with safety standards. Strong leadership, OSHA knowledge, and a related degree are valued.

Qualifications

• 2-year degree or equivalent in a related field with hotel engineering experience preferred.
• Extensive knowledge of mechanical systems: HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and refrigeration.
• Ability to troubleshoot and repair complex equipment issues.
• Familiar with OSHA regulations and safety standards.
• First-class operating engineer's license in boilers and air conditioning preferred.
• Proven maintenance team leadership and strong communication skills.
• Ability to work in varied conditions, including extreme temperatures and loud environments.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly and up to 100 lbs occasionally.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the maintenance department ensuring hotel operations HVAC/plumbing/electrical systems function optimally.
• Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs for all hotel systems and equipment.
• Administer life safety programs including fire safety, emergency procedures, and security.
• Monitor and control expenses including contracts, utilities, and capex; lead and train the team.
• Supervise external contractors and ensure work meets standards and budget.
• Communicate with hotel management about conditions and cost-effective improvements.
• Address maintenance requests promptly to ensure guest satisfaction and adhere to standards.
• Provide coaching to team members and foster a positive work environment.
• Ensure guest interactions are courteous and professional; align with company standards.
• Collaborate with other departments for seamless service delivery.
• Maintain safety and security protocols including keys, lost and found, and emergencies.
• Participate in daily operations meetings and contribute to hotel strategy; perform duties as needed.
• Uphold company values and standards in all actions and decisions.
