Job summary

Highgate Hotels is seeking a Director of Engineering for the YVE Hotel Miami (Downtown Miami). You will oversee all admin, financial and operational facets of the hotel engineering division to ensure safe, efficient and profitable operation.

Responsibilities include budgeting, staff supervision, maintenance planning, safety compliance, and energy conservation initiatives for a 243-room boutique property located in a vibrant urban area.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive facilities management experience in a hotel or related field.
• HVAC, electrical, plumbing, boiler operations and general maintenance skills.
• Strong communication and multitasking abilities.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and train all Engineering staff in Customer Service, Empowerment, SOPs and Loss Prevention Standards.
• Create, approve and post all Engineering staff schedules according to standards.
• Create and adhere to annual budget for department.
• Develop financial forecasts and participate in monthly profit/loss reviews.
• Develop and implement plans to maintain property, equipment, grounds and assets.
• Ensure the hotel complies with all local, state and federal laws.
• Create and implement a preventative maintenance program for hotel equipment.
• Ensure life safety equipment and systems are inspected and certified per standards.
• Handle room maintenance requests promptly and courteously.
• Assist with special projects and renovations as needed.
• Participate in energy conservation programs and safety initiatives.
• Review guest and event feedback to identify and fix issues quickly.
• Maintain ADA compliance and vendor contracts for engineering.
