Job summary

Highgate Hotels is seeking a Chief Engineer to oversee the daily operations of the engineering division at The Brown Palace Hotel & Spa in Denver. The role requires managing the department, budgeting, and ensuring safety and compliance across all systems.

Compensation ranges from USD 80,000 to 90,000 per year with a yearly pay type. Applicants should have substantial facilities management experience in hospitality and relevant licenses where required.

Qualifications

• At least 3 years of progressive facilities management experience in hospitality or related field.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Stationary Engineer's license if required by local code.
• HVAC, electrical, plumbing, boiler operations and general maintenance skills.
• Long hours sometimes required.
• Ability to lift up to 100 pounds occasionally and more as needed.
• Must communicate clearly with guests and all staff levels.
• Must multitask and prioritize departmental functions to meet deadlines.
• Attend required meetings and trainings; participate in MOD coverage.
• Maintain regular attendance per hotel standards and dress code.
• Comply with Highgate Hotel standards and regulations for safe operations.
• Maintain confidentiality of information; perform other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Assist in developing and implementing plans to maintain property, equipment and grounds.
• Ensure the hotel complies with all local, state and federal laws.
• Supervise and train Engineering staff in customer service and SOPs.
• Create and post Engineering staff schedules.
• Help manage annual budget for the department.
• Assist in developing financial forecasts and participate in monthly reviews.
• Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs for hotel equipment.
• Ensure emergency and life-safety systems are inspected and tested per standards.
• Participate in energy conservation programs.
• Review guest and event feedback to identify and fix issues promptly.
• Support vendor contracts managed by the engineering department.
• Assist with special projects and renovations as needed.
• Participate in Safety Committee and hotel programs as required.
