Job summary

Eataly in Los Angeles is seeking a Senior Host to be the first and last point of contact for guests, greeting, seating and bidding farewell while maintaining service flow during shifts (Wed–Sun 12 PM–8 PM). Reports to the Restaurant Floor Manager.

You will train new hosts, manage reservations with OpenTable, respond to guest relations emails, and help maintain the dining room’s appearance and overall guest experience.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in a high-volume restaurant.
• Basic computer skills.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greet, seat, and bid farewell to guests; maintain seating flow during service.
• Train new hosts on floor plans, OpenTable features, guest interactions and hospitality standards.
• Check voicemails and return calls to confirm reservations; forward event inquiries to Events Team and escalate guest issues.
• Assist with responding to Guest Relations emails and maintain menu inventory to reduce waste.
• Oversee seating for AM/PM shifts (Wed–Sun, 12 PM–8 PM); maximize walk-ins while preserving reservation space.
• Coordinate with management on private events and ensure spaces are allocated properly.
• Share reservation details with management each shift to recognize guests (birthdays, anniversaries, VIPs).
• Ensure dining room appearance is maintained (flowers, candles, etc.) and assist servers as needed.
• Maintain accurate waitlist and seating chart using computerized system.
