Job summary

EPAM Systems is seeking a Senior Host Developer to contribute to core banking mainframe solutions on IBM z/OS. You will participate in building, maintaining, and optimizing critical banking applications, ensuring high availability and reliability.

The role requires hands-on COBOL, JCL, CICS, and DB2 expertise, plus growing experience in Gen AI and AI-assisted development to accelerate delivery. Strong English and Spanish skills support multilingual collaboration.

Qualifications

At least 3 years of professional software development experience.
Hands-on COBOL on IBM z/OS development experience.
Experience with JCL batch processing.
Proficiency with CICS transactional development.
Strong DB2 and SQL knowledge.
Experience in AI Solution Engineering for enterprise systems.
Background in Gen AI Application Development.
Gen AI Assisted Development experience.
Prompt Engineering skills.
Strong English and Spanish at a B2 level or above.
Nice to have COBOL deep expertise for legacy systems.
Broader background with CICS for transactional apps.
Advanced JCL skills for batch orchestration.
Extensive knowledge of DB2 optimization.

Responsibilities

Participate in core banking applications development underpinning essential business functions.
Perform maintenance on mission-critical applications with high availability requirements.
Diagnose and resolve production incidents to minimize banking disruptions.
Support testing to ensure stability before release.
