Job summary

PeaceHealth in Vancouver, WA is seeking a Coder III - Hospital Coding to join our HIM team in a full-time, day shift.

The role codes inpatient and outpatient records using ICD-10-CM and CPT-4, supports reviews, mentoring, and software implementations. Requires 5+ years inpatient hospital coding experience and AHIMA/AAPC credentials.

Qualifications

Completion of a college-based or AHIMA/AAPC approved coding education program.
Minimum 5 years of inpatient hospital coding and abstracting experience.
Proficiency in ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 coding systems.
Knowledge of acute care reimbursement and regulatory requirements.
Professional certifications such as RHIA/RHIT/CCS/CPC/CPC-H/CPC-Hospital are preferred.

Responsibilities

Code diagnoses and procedures using ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 for inpatient/outpatient records.
Abstract information from medical records following established methods.
Identify and correct errors with submitting departments.
Support testing and implementation of software and EMR as a super user.
Mentor coding staff and participate in internal reviews and CDI coordination.
