Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is hiring a Senior Compliance Associate to support hospital billing compliance across the health system. You will assist in implementing the Corporate Compliance Program, coordinate investigations, and help ensure accurate coding, billing, and documentation in inpatient services.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree or 6–8 years of related experience, certification as a coder or eligibility, and strong communication, analytical, and organizational skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or 6 to 8 years of compliance, clinical, or legal experience.
• Certified coder (e.g., RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CCS-P, or equivalent) or eligible.
• Healthcare experience related to hospital inpatient services including coding, billing, auditing, or compliance.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).

Responsibilities

• Respond to hospital billing compliance inquiries and document resolutions.
• Conduct and support compliance investigations related to hospital billing.
• Lead compliance reviews and follow-ups for billing accuracy and regulatory adherence.
• Coordinate regulatory inquiries, audits, and investigations with CMS/OIG and others.
• Identify and monitor healthcare compliance risks across the health system.
• Stay current on regulatory changes affecting the health system and subsidiaries.
• Assist with developing the annual Compliance Work Plan.
• Develop and maintain compliance policies and procedures.
• Coordinate agendas and materials for compliance committees.
• Develop department metrics to monitor adherence to regulations.
