Job summary

Kenworth Truck Company is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer for Hood Design in Kirkland, WA. You will lead design and development of hood and outerbody systems, using Creo to build complex assemblies and drive validation with internal and external teams.

You will collaborate across PACCAR divisions, manage multiple projects, and understand manufacturing processes from plant to supplier to deliver world-class products. A strong background in automotive design and leadership is required.

Qualifications

• BSME or equivalent degree required; Master’s degree and PE/EIT certification desirable.
• 3-5+ years in design and specification of automotive or outerbody systems.
• Advanced proficiency with Creo; experience with surface design and/or FEA desirable.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of GD&T principles.
• Proficient with MS Office and project management tools.
• Willingness to learn and adopt new engineering processes.
• Experience solving complex technical problems and leading a small team.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, and implementation of mechanical systems within hood and outerbody systems.
• Use Creo modeling software to create complex assemblies meeting structural and aesthetic goals.
• Collaborate with internal and external teams to validate designs.
• Utilize PACCAR systems to manage product creation, costs, schedules, and NPI.
• Collaborate across multiple PACCAR divisions.
• Manage multiple priorities and goals.
• Develop understanding of plant and supplier manufacturing processes for hood/outerbody production.
• Apply creativity to design tasks and propose innovative approaches to standard work.
