Job summary

UTMB Health in Galveston, TX seeks a Senior Histotechnologist to supervise the histology lab and oversee complex procedures in surgical pathology. You will mentor staff, coordinate workflows, and ensure accurate test reporting with proper documentation.

You will contribute to quality management, compliance with regulatory standards, and budgeting input while training students and ensuring patient care continuity across shifts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Clinical Laboratory Science or Basic Science.
• Two years of related experience.
• Preferred: three years of related experience.
• Required: ASCP Histotechnologist (HTL) certification.
• Preferred: Immunohistochemistry (QIHC) or Digital Pathology.

Responsibilities

• Supervise histology lab staff and coordinate daily operations.
• Review lab data, ensure accurate reporting with documentation.
• Lead staffing, scheduling, training, and competency assessment.
• Develop and update protocols; monitor quality control and safety.
• Maintain supplies, manage inventory, and input for budget.
• Instruct and train students; cover shifts as needed.
• Ensure regulatory accreditation compliance and liaison with management.
