Baptist Medical Center Jacksonville in Jacksonville, FL is seeking an experienced Histotechnologist to join our Histology Lab on a full-time day shift. The role processes tissue samples into slides under Pathologist direction, requiring 3–4 years in histology or research and active Medical Technology experience. Florida licensure or eligibility is required.

Responsibilities include embedding, microtomy, staining, equipment maintenance, slide filing, LIS use, and collaboration with pathologists.

Qualifications

• This Histotechnologist needs to have strong fine motor skills and be incredibly detail oriented.
• At least 3-4 years of experience working in either a research or histology lab.
• Medical Technology experience is also required.
• Must be licensed or eligible to obtain a license as a Histotechnologist in Florida before hire.

Responsibilities

• Performing all technical aspects of Histology including embedding, microtomy, routine and special stains
• Maintenance of all equipment - tissue processors, microtomes, cryostats, automated stainers, and coverslipper
• Filing of slides and blocks
• Knowledge of LIS functions for accessioning and reporting
• Handling all specimens knowledgeably by consulting with the pathologist
