The post holder will supervise dissectors, ensure adherence to SOPs and UK standards, and promote high-quality diagnostic histology outputs with a strong focus on education and process improvement.

Qualifications

• Experience in histology laboratory environments.
• Ability to perform complex specimen dissection.
• Knowledge of SOPs and QA standards.
• Ability to train and supervise staff.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of equipment and techniques.

Responsibilities

• Perform independent dissection of complex specimens.
• Evaluate and implement new equipment, methods and practices.
• Maintain knowledge of current technological and scientific developments.
• Act as senior point of contact for emergencies in the designated area.
• Deliver training to Biomedical Scientist staff and maintain training records.
• Create and review Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) electronically.
• Promote equality and diversity in the workplace.
• Ensure all tasks comply with SOPs and regulations and maintain quality service.
• Prepare tissue sections and perform routine and specialised histology tasks.
