Job summary

Quality Engineering Solutions, Inc. is seeking an experienced Highway Inspector to join our team. The role focuses on oversight and inspection of complex heavy highway bridges and structures, with the ability to read plans, work in challenging conditions, and climb structures as needed.

The position offers growth potential with a possible transition into a Structures Manager role, and long‑term advancement opportunities within QES.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering strongly preferred.
• 5+ years of similar structural inspection experience.
• NICET II or III certification is required.
• PennDOT or Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission project experience is a plus.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Shifts may vary.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and inspect complex heavy highway bridges and structures.
• Prepare daily documentation and complete forms as needed.
• Perform daily measurements and calculations.
• Ensure construction adheres to plans, specs and provisions.
• Verify materials and construction methods meet requirements.
