Quality Engineering Solutions, Inc. is seeking an experienced Highway Inspector to join our team. The role focuses on oversight and inspection of complex heavy highway bridges and structures, with the ability to read plans, work in challenging conditions, and climb structures as needed.

The position offers growth potential with a possible transition into a Structures Manager role, and long‑term advancement opportunities within QES.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering strongly preferred.
• 5+ years of similar structural inspection experience.
• NICET II or III certification is required.
• PennDOT or Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission project experience is a plus.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Shifts may vary.

Job description

QES Engineering Inspection is seeking an experienced Highway Inspector to join our team. The Highway Inspector will complete oversight and inspection of complicated heavy, highway bridges and structures. The ideal candidate will be able to read and interpret plans, work in adverse water conditions, and climb structures (as needed).

This position has room for GROWTH and has the potential to transition into a Structures Manager, depending on overall performance. Long-term employment opportunities are available with QES!

Responsibilities

• Complete oversight and inspection of complicated heavy highway bridges and structures


• Prepare daily documentation and complete forms as needed


• Complete measurements and calculations daily


• Ensure the construction adheres to the project plans, specifications and special provisions


• Verify the proper materials and methods of construction are being performed

Requirements

• Minimum education requirement is a high school diploma. Bachelors’ degree or higher in a civil engineering discipline is strongly preferred.


• Must have 5+ years of similar structural inspection experience.


• Must be NICET certified (either NICET II or III)


• Previous experience on PennDOT or Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission (PTC) projects is a PLUS.


• PennDOT Concrete and NECEPT Bituminous are preferred.


• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel is required.


• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
