Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a Task Leader to drive the technical delivery of highway design projects across New England, remaining hands-on while growing into broader leadership. The role can be based in Boston, MA; East Hartford, CT; or Manchester, NH, with hybrid work flexibility.

You will lead tasks from concept to PS&E, review designs, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate with project teams to ensure quality, schedule, and budget objectives are met.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Transportation, or Structural Engineering with PE licensure.
• 10 years of related experience and willingness to travel as needed.
• Experience with highway design projects and multi-modal considerations.

Responsibilities

• Lead the technical delivery of highway design tasks from concept through PS&E.
• Develop and review roadway alignments, criteria, plans, specs and costs.
• Provide day-to-day oversight to meet quality, schedule and budget targets.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance.
• Collaborate with PMs and technology leaders on DOT projects.
• Review designs for compliance with regulations and sign/seal when required.
• Conduct site reviews and field studies to support constructible solutions.
• Support proposals and scope development with technical reviews.
