Job summary

GFT is seeking a Senior Highway Design Engineer to join our Transportation Team in Downtown Chicago or Schaumburg, IL. The role follows a hybrid work model with regular office attendance in Chicago or Schaumburg, IL.

Responsibilities include plan preparation, quantity calculations, geometric design, drainage, traffic studies, and reporting, working closely with multi-disciplinary teams. A Civil Engineering degree with 3–6 years of relevant experience is required, along with OpenRoads Designer,

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited civil engineering degree required.
• 3–6 years of design or plan production experience in transportation engineering.
• Proficient with OpenRoads Designer, MicroStation and Geopak.

Responsibilities

• Assist in plan preparation, quantity calculations and geometric design.
• Contribute to drainage design, MOT, cost estimates and specs.
• Collaborate with engineers, technicians and surveyors on multi-disciplinary projects.
• Participate in field data collection as needed and support project scope changes.
• Prepare reports and coordinate with Project Managers and Senior Engineers.
