Job summary
GFT is seeking an Entry Level Highway Engineer to join our Transportation team in Schaumburg, IL or Chicago, IL. This role follows a hybrid schedule with a minimum of three days onsite.
You will participate in concept development, preliminary design, and final design for municipal roads and highways, with mentorship and opportunities to grow within a multidisciplinary team.
The position offers hands-on design experience, exposure to Bentley MicroStation/OpenRoads, and competitive benefits.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
- 0-2 years of experience in transportation engineering design.
- Interest in highway/transportation engineering through coursework or internships.
- Experience with CAD/drafting software.
Responsibilities
- Participate in concept development, preliminary engineering and final design for municipal roads and highways.
- Prepare design drawings, sketches, and layouts using CAD tools.
- Work in a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Prepare material quantity and cost estimates.
- Provide input to proposals and reports.
