Job summary

NBBJ is seeking a Senior Higher Education Campus Planner/Designer to translate client visions into actionable spatial strategies for campuses across the United States. The role spans campus-wide to site-specific planning and requires collaboration with practice leaders, architects, designers, and clients.

You will lead engagements with university leadership, contribute to proposals, and stay current with higher education trends, pedagogy, and sustainability in campus design.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in Planning, Urban Design, Landscape Architecture, Architecture, or related field.
• 15+ years of experience in higher education planning or institutional strategy.
• Proven experience leading campus planning for higher education.
• Excellent communication and facilitation skills to engage diverse audiences.
• Proficiency in analog or digital sketching.

Responsibilities

• Translate client vision into actionable spatial strategies and diagrams.
• Conceive campus-scale planning from large to site-specific.
• Collaborate with campus planning team and cross-practice with architects and designers.
• Advocate for integrated sustainability, resilience, and equity in planning.
• Lead client engagement and present plans to university leadership.
• Support business development and thought leadership in higher education trends.
