Job summary

Dominion Energy in Petersburg, VA is seeking a High Voltage Testing Consulting Engineer to join our new HVL. The role involves testing power and instrument transformers, bushings, breakers, GIS, cables, insulators, and capacitors, plus RCA testing of failed equipment.

You will operate HV test systems and design structures, coordinating with contractors and QA to maintain standards. 10+ years of HV engineering experience and PE preferred.

Qualifications

Minimum 10+ years of engineering or high voltage experience.
HV power equipment expertise in lab, production, and field testing.
Strong knowledge of IEEE, IEC, CIGRE, NETA standards and codes.
Ability to lead and manage projects with strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

Operate and maintain HV test systems including impulse generator and AC/DC sets.
Design support structures for testing HV power equipment.
Oversee fabrication by contractors.
Coordinate maintenance of auxiliary mechanical systems.
Facilitate transportation and setup of HV equipment for testing.
Collaborate with engineering and QA to ensure compliance.
