Job summary

Polaris Electro-Optics, Inc. in San Diego seeks a Senior/Principal Hardware Engineer to own high-speed electrical implementation and signal-integrity validation for next-gen optical interconnect hardware.

This hands-on role interfaces with photonics, systems, packaging and test teams to translate requirements into robust interfaces and bring them through design, fabrication, bring-up, and qualification. You will collaborate with OSATs, substrate and PCB vendors, and high-speed component partners

Qualifications

• Significant industry experience in high-speed hardware and signal-integrity design.
• Strong background in signal integrity for multi-tens-of-GHz interfaces.
• Experience designing and bringing up high-speed PCBs with low-loss/hybrid RF stack-ups.
• Deep understanding of differential signaling, impedance control, reflections, crosstalk, and power integrity.
• Experience with S-parameters, VNA measurements, oscilloscopes, and RF test equipment.
• Familiarity with SI/EM tools such as Ansys HFSS, Cadence Sigrity, or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Design high-speed PCBs and contribute to substrate/SLP electrical interface definition for >100 GBaud-class signaling.
• Collaborate with OSATs and substrate vendors on stack-up, routing constraints, and high-speed performance.
• Own architecture and implementation of high-speed electrical interfaces and RF hardware for optical interconnect systems.
• Perform pre-layout and post-layout SI analysis using S-parameters, channel and electromagnetic simulations.
• Define high-speed interfaces between test equipment, MZM drivers, TIAs, photonic modules, and host electronics.
• Work with photonics, packaging, systems, and test engineers to optimize electrical/optical co-design.
• Lead high-speed board bring-up, debug, characterization, and failure analysis.
• Define and execute qualification plans for high-speed PCB/substrate interfaces (IL, RL, crosstalk, impedance, skew).
