Job summary

Apple in Cupertino seeks a Senior High-Speed I/O Engineer to own the design, development, and deployment of metrology and test instrumentation systems across the product lifecycle.

You will partner with System EE, Signal Integrity, Firmware, Software, Silicon Engineering, and Operations to define test strategies, architecture, and automation, shaping reliability of Apple’s hardware.

This role requires deep technical depth and cross-functional leadership to solve complex problems at scale.

Qualifications

• BS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field required.
• Strong software development background in C, Objective-C, or Lua; firmware; and scripting.
• Solid understanding of hardware fundamentals, architecture, and debug interfaces.
• Experience with high-speed interconnects (USB, Thunderbolt, DisplayPort, HDMI, PCIe).
• Proven ability to design, bring up, debug, and automate electrical systems.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deploy automated instrumentation systems validating electrical function and performance of high-speed I/O technologies.
• Partner with System EE, Signal Integrity, Firmware, Software, Silicon Engineering, and Operations to define test strategies and instrumentation architecture.
• Analyze complex system behavior and improve engineering workflows through automation and AI-assisted analytics.
• Lead cross-functional efforts to solve engineering problems at scale.
