Job summary

Airtight Energy Consulting, Inc. is a growing firm offering HERS ratings, Passive House consulting and energy code support for residential, multifamily and commercial projects in the Greater Boston area.

The role focuses on consulting, field verification, and leadership for new raters as the company expands. Key tasks include blower door testing, HERS ratings, ENERGY STAR certification and Passive House verification across multifamily developments, with opportunities for regional impact and

Qualifications

Bachelor of Science degree in science, engineering, architecture, building technology, or similar.
Minimum of 3–4 years experience as a HERS rater.
Experience performing HERS ratings on multifamily buildings.
Located within Massachusetts and able to drive to Greater Boston area sites several days per week.
Willing to travel to Northampton office 2–3 times per month.
ENERGY STAR rater training completed.
Certified Passive House Verifier or ability to take next Verifier training.
Use of a personal vehicle and good driving record.

Responsibilities

Providing project management and consulting for high performance new construction and major renovation projects from start to finish.
Reviewing architectural, mechanical, plumbing, and lighting plans and specifications.
Performing take-offs of envelope, mechanical, plumbing, and lighting systems.
Performing HERS ratings of multifamily buildings, including duplexes, townhomes, and apartments.
Certifying projects under ENERGY STAR Multifamily, Indoor AirPLUS, and DOE Efficient New Homes.
Providing Passive House verification services to multifamily projects.
Performing on-site inspections for projects.
Performing blower door, duct leakage, and ventilation testing using diagnostic equipment.
Attending high performance building events to promote Airtight Energy Consulting and advance knowledge.
