County of El Paso seeks a Heritage Tourism Specialist Senior to lead museum operations and heritage tourism initiatives. This role plans and coordinates programs, exhibitions, and educational activities for El Paso County's historic resources, including major sites.

The position emphasizes accurate interpretation, public engagement, and partnerships with schools, museums, and community organizations to promote cultural tourism and preservation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree and two years of professional museum/history/educational experience or equivalent.
• Equivalent combination of experience and training may be accepted.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day operational leadership for Museum section activities, coordinating schedules, resources, and services.
• Direct and train staff, volunteers, interns, and temporary personnel supporting Museum activities.
• Develop and implement Museum programs, exhibitions, tours, and visitor experiences per plans and THC standards.
• Care for and preserve museum collections following established standards and county procedures.
• Develop exhibits and interpretive content, ensuring accuracy and alignment with interpretive plans.
• Coordinate collaborations with schools, universities, museums, and community partners to expand programming.
