Placements24 client, a specialist architectural firm, seeks a Senior Design Architect for heritage conservation and adaptive reuse in Queenstown, Eastern Cape. Lead design teams, assess historical significance, and develop innovative yet respectful interventions while preserving cultural heritage.

The role requires a Master’s in Architecture with Heritage Conservation, 7+ years’ experience, SACAP registration, and proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Architecture with a specialization in Heritage Conservation.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in heritage architecture and conservation projects.
• Proven experience in conservation, restoration and adaptive reuse of historic buildings.
• Knowledge of heritage legislation and South African policies.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit and illustration tools; SACAP registration is required.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and planning of heritage conservation and adaptive reuse projects.
• Conduct site assessments and historical research for heritage buildings.
• Develop conservation strategies, restoration plans and reuse proposals.
• Prepare detailed architectural drawings, specs and conservation reports.
• Ensure interventions comply with heritage guidelines and regulations.
• Collaborate with heritage consultants, structural engineers, and craftspeople.
• Manage project documentation including photos and material analyses.
• Oversee site work, ensuring conservation principles during construction.
• Mentor junior architects and liaise with authorities and clients.
