Job summary

City of Dallas is seeking a Senior Heavy Equipment Mechanic to lead maintenance and repair of the City’s heavy machinery and facilities. You will supervise technicians, diagnose complex issues, and uphold safety and quality standards in a busy municipal environment.

The role requires a Class A/B CDL, 4+ years of preventive maintenance experience, and owning a mechanic's tool set. This is an on-site position with varying shifts, including nights and weekends.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent work experience.
• Four years of experience in preventative maintenance on mechanical, electrical, HVAC, or heavy plant equipment.
• Must have a Class A or B CDL and valid driver's license with good driving record.
• Must supply own set of mechanic's hand tools.
• EPA 609, Air Brakes ASE T-4/T-5 certifications or coursework required.

Responsibilities

• Perform and supervise maintenance, repair, and preventive maintenance of heavy equipment.
• Diagnose equipment failures and oversee other mechanics.
• Inspect, test, and verify repairs meet standards.
• Track parts, orders, and inventory; manage tools and equipment.
• Ensure safety protocols and adherence to policies.
• Respond to state mandated inspections.
