Job summary

Independence Excavating, Inc. in Sterling, VA is seeking a Heavy Equipment Mechanic to keep our fleet at peak performance. You will diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues, perform precision repairs, and document work orders while maintaining safety standards.

Join our team to service Cat, Komatsu, and John Deere machines, work with modern diagnostic tools, and contribute to large-scale projects across the region. CDL and willingness to travel are preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of recent experience or training in vehicle/construction equipment repair and maintenance.
• Proficiency in diagnosing mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues.
• Expertise in operating diagnostic equipment and troubleshooting hydraulic systems.
• Welding and fabrication skills, including acetylene and electric arc welding.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and emission issues.
• Troubleshoot complex issues and perform precision repairs.
• Inspect and perform preventive maintenance to keep machines reliable.
• Repair buckets and attachments; perform teardowns and rebuilds as needed.
• Document repairs and prepare comprehensive work orders.
