Job summary

Midwest Peterbilt Group in Ankeny, IA is seeking a Service Technician - Class B to diagnose, repair, and maintain medium-duty through Class 8 trucks. You will work under moderate supervision and assist in training less experienced technicians while ensuring safety and quality.

Responsibilities include mechanical and electrical repairs, testing after service, reading repair orders, and using diagnostic software, OEM tools, and shop equipment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Technical or diesel technology degree preferred.
• Intermediate computer skills including diagnostic software and service systems.
• CDL preferred but not required; must meet company insurability requirements.
• OEM and ASE certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Diagnostics and repair on medium-duty through Class 7 and 8 trucks.
• Inspect, test, and diagnose mechanical and electrical issues.
• Perform routine maintenance, inspections, overhauls, and component replacements.
• Assist with diagnosing fuel, emissions, and other complex systems.
• Utilize diagnostic software, OEM tools, and specialized equipment.
• Complete repairs in a timely, quality manner.
• Read and understand repair orders and follow instructions.
• Test vehicles post-repair to verify operation.
• Identify additional repair needs and communicate findings.
• Maintain productivity and workmanship standards.
• Assist in training and supporting less experienced technicians.
