Job summary

Port Houston is seeking a skilled Maintenance Mechanic to inspect, repair, and maintain a range of container handling equipment at our Barbours Cut facility. The role requires diagnosing gearboxes, hydraulic systems, brakes, and other components, reading manuals, and providing repair cost estimates.

You will coordinate schedules, work overtime as needed, and uphold our safety standards and core values. Required: high school diploma or GED and 4+ years of related mechanic experience, valid Texas

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• 4+ years related mechanic experience required.
• Knowledge of diagnostics and repair practices for heavy equipment.
• Valid Texas driver’s license required; TWIC within 30 days of appointment.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, repair, and maintain mechanical equipment or machinery (container handling units, yard tractors, forklifts, vehicles, chassis).
• Diagnose and repair components (gearboxes, hydraulic systems, brakes, compressors, other parts).
• Use diagnostic tools to enter and retrieve information.
• Provide cost estimates for repairs and work orders.
• Read factory manuals/blueprints as required.
• Coordinate repairs and maintenance schedules; delegate tasks.
• Work overtime as needed; adapt to alternate schedules.
• Uphold Port Houston core values in all duties.
