Job summary

Watson Civil Construction, Inc. is seeking a Senior Estimator for our Tampa or Jacksonville/St. Augustine, FL offices.

The Senior Estimator will oversee cost proposals and DB opportunities, bidding or negotiating with clients and pursuing Design-Build prospects across Florida. The role requires DOT experience (FDOT preferred), extensive use of HCSS and Primavera P6, and a Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related field, plus 5+ years of civil construction estimating experience.

Qualifications

• Five or more years of civil construction experience.
• Experience in preparing hard-bid DOT, municipal and private marketplace cost proposals.
• Proficient mathematical and computer skills.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work within a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Identify and solicit projects to bid within the company's core markets.
• Analyze and interpret contract documents including engineering plans, specifications and geotechnical reports.
• Prepare detailed cost estimates using HCSS software.
• Perform quantity take-off analysis.
• Solicit and analyze supplier and subcontractor proposals.
• Prepare project schedules using Primavera P6 CPM software.
• Prepare risk assessment analysis through the evaluation of contract documents and geotechnical reports.
• Work in a team environment, assisting and training other estimators.
• Develop standardized estimating systems and databases.
• Strive to build effective relationships with clients, architects, engineers, specialty contractors and suppliers.
