Job summary

LHH Recruitment Solutions is partnering with a well-established heavy civil contractor to hire an Estimator to support bridge, railroad, and heavy highway construction projects across the Midwest.

You will review plans, perform quantity takeoffs, solicit quotes, and work closely with operations and engineering teams to deliver accurate bids and successful project handoffs. Travel may be required.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of estimating experience in heavy civil construction.
• Experience with bridge, railroad, or heavy highway projects.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering plans and specifications.
• Experience with quantity takeoffs, bid preparation, and project costing.
• Willingness to travel and hold a valid driver’s license.
• Knowledge of heavy equipment and construction methods.

Responsibilities

• Perform quantity takeoffs and prepare detailed estimates.
• Review plans, specifications, and bid documents.
• Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotes.
• Identify and pursue viable project bidding opportunities.
• Prepare proposals and quotations for clients.
• Partner with project management and engineering teams during preconstruction and planning.
• Support project handoff and cost tracking after award.
• Conduct site visits as needed for bidding and planning.
• Assist in developing construction approaches for complex bridge and railroad projects.
