Job summary

LHH Recruitment Solutions is partnering with a well-established heavy civil contractor to hire an Estimator to support bridge, railroad, and heavy highway construction projects across the Midwest.

You will review plans, perform quantity takeoffs, solicit quotes, and work closely with operations and engineering teams to deliver accurate bids and successful project handoffs. Travel may be required.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of estimating experience in heavy civil construction.
• Experience with bridge, railroad, or heavy highway projects.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering plans and specifications.
• Experience with quantity takeoffs, bid preparation, and project costing.
• Willingness to travel and hold a valid driver’s license.
• Knowledge of heavy equipment and construction methods.

What You’ll Do

What We’re Looking For

• 5+ years of estimating experience within heavy civil construction
• Experience with bridge construction, railroad infrastructure, or heavy highway projects
• Ability to read and interpret engineering plans and specifications
• Experience with quantity takeoffs, bid preparation, and project costing
• Familiarity with estimating software such as HCSS HeavyBid preferred
• Understanding of heavy equipment including cranes, excavators, pile drivers, and related construction equipment
• Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Commitment to safety and construction best practices
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel periodically for project site evaluations
