TALENT Software Services seeks a Senior Metallurgical Engineer – Heat Treat Specialist to act as NA heat treatment SME, guiding cross-functional teams in engineering, supplier quality, and production. The role focuses on advanced heat treatment, metallurgical analysis, and reliability improvements across global sites.

The candidate will lead investigations, develop robust material solutions, and mentor teams while aligning with global metallurgy standards and value engineering initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Metallurgical Engineering (ABET-accredited).
• Minimum 10 years in a heat-treating engineering role.
• Proven leadership and project management experience.
• Broad technical expertise across carburizing, carbonitriding, induction, quenching, tempering, solution heat treatment.
• Deep understanding of how heat treat affects microstructure and performance of steels and aluminum alloys.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Experience with AIAG CQI 9 heat treat assessments.
• Preferred advanced degrees and experience in complex metallurgical analysis, fracture mechanics, government-funded research.

Responsabilités

• Serve as NA heat treatment subject matter expert supporting engineering, supplier quality, and production.
• Collaborate with global regions on metallurgic matters.
• Lead metallurgical failure investigations including root cause and corrective actions.
• Drive reliability improvements via advanced materials engineering and process optimization.
• Develop harmonized heat-treat procedures, specs, and standards.
• Support warranty reduction through forensic analysis and containment recommendations.
• Review supplier assessments for heat treatment and metallurgical processes.
• Participate in value engineering for cost reduction without compromising performance.
• Lead drawing reviews and GD&T sign-offs requiring heat treating expertise.
• Scout and develop advanced materials solutions for energy demands and lightweighting.
