HDR is a leading engineering firm shaping the built environment in Los Angeles and beyond. As part of HDR’s Building Engineering Services Group, you will design critical infrastructure supporting the digital age and healthcare facilities, ensuring energy efficiency and safety.

In the role of Senior Healthcare Structural Engineer, we’ll count on you to apply expertise to complex projects, mentor staff, and manage project activities while upholding HDR’s culture of inclusion and innovation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • 10 years structural engineering experience as it relates to building design.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license recognized by the licensing board.
  • Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, RAM, ETABS, SAFE or similar analytical software.
  • Experience in design calculations and layouts.
  • Ability to design and detail in steel, concrete, masonry and wood.
  • Understanding of gravity and lateral analysis.
  • Experience with architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firms.
  • Active participation in employee-owned culture.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a technical expert with recognized authority in structural engineering as it relates to projects; resolve problems of greater scope and complexity.
  • Possess strong analytical skills including Dynamic analysis, non-linear analysis, and deep foundation design.
  • Strong software skills such as ETABS, SAFE, Perform 3D, RAM Structural System, and Ensoft.
  • Plan and develop projects or design activities.
  • Plan, organize and supervise work of medium to large staff of professionals and technicians.
  • Serve as Project Manager on larger projects, though project management is not sole focus of position.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Architectural Engineering, Structural emphasis
  • 10 years of OSHPD / HCAI experience

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
  • A minimum of 10 years structural engineering experience as it relates to building design
  • Requires professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered. Example: Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license.
  • Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, RAM, ETABS, SAFE or similar analytical software
  • Experience in design calculations and layouts
  • Ability to design and detail in steel, concrete, masonry and wood
  • Requires understanding of gravity analysis and lateral analysis
  • Previous experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
