Qualifications

• 1 year of claims/billing/collections experience or 4 years in a business office setting.
• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication and problem-solving skills.
• Able to communicate with patients, payers, outside agencies and the public.
• Experience with ICD9, CPT4, HCPCS or medical terminology preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensure claims are submitted accurately and timely.
• Communicate with insurers, patients, and physicians about payment issues.
• Establish reasonable payment arrangements.
• Review posting, balancing, and adjustments for closing accounts.
• Identify root causes and recommend corrective actions to prevent denials.
• Mentor staff and provide procedural direction.
