Job summary

ASSYST is seeking an experienced Senior Healthcare Data Engineer in Austin, TX to lead system integration, automation, and data modernization for eICR ingestion and related workflows.

The role involves translating epidemiological requirements into technical specs, building automated ETL pipelines with SAS, Python, R, or SQL, and delivering dashboards that track ingestion, data quality, and processing performance in a healthcare data environment.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in scripting and statistical programming with SAS, Python, R, or comparable languages.
• 8+ years in system integration and automation, building automated interoperability workflows and dashboards.
• 8+ years in health and database systems, querying and managing healthcare datasets using SQL.
• 8+ years in system requirements and technical analysis, translating needs into formal specs and reports.
• 8+ years in data validation and quality assurance, testing and auditing automated pipelines.
• 8+ years in technical documentation and communication, explaining complex concepts to non-technical staff.

Responsibilities

• Conduct needs assessment to determine requirements for TBIRDS to ingest eICRs and auto-populate registry fields.
• Translate workflows into technical specs, data dictionaries, and architectural recommendations.
• Produce System Requirements Documents (SRD) and integration runbooks for long-term sustainability.
• Design, build, test, and maintain automated data pipelines for EHR data feeds.
• Create automated rules for data linking, deduplication, and cross-database integration.
• Automate clinical review workflows to triage and route case alerts.
