Job summary

A Health Studies Scientist is needed in San Diego, onsite, to design, pilot, and execute health studies that evaluate sensor and algorithm performance. You will work with engineering, product, legal, privacy, and operations teams to ensure robust study design and data integrity.

The role requires a background in biomedical engineering/health sciences and 3+ years of health research experience, with strong communication skills and attention to regulatory standards such as GCP.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering, Bioengineering, Health Sciences, or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience in health or clinical research, sensor validation, or human data collection.
• Experience developing research protocols, consent documents, SOPs, and study documentation.
• Direct experience working with human participants in research or health studies.
• Strong communication and organizational skills with collaboration across teams.
• Maintain high standards of scientific validity, participant safety, and data integrity.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with engineers to define study hypotheses, endpoints, methodologies, and research protocols.
• Develop protocols, Informed Consent Forms (ICFs), SOPs, and study docs in line with GCP and human-subject protections.
• Lead hands-on study sessions with human participants, wearables, and reference devices.
• Conduct pilot and feasibility studies to validate protocols and troubleshoot sensor performance.
• Coordinate study launches, data collection, monitoring, and closeout activities.
• Train study personnel on data-collection procedures and quality standards.
• Ensure scientific rigor, data integrity, and accurate documentation throughout execution.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to align priorities and deliver study objectives.
• Analyze data and support tools/workflows that improve research operations.
