Job summary

City of Berkeley invites applications for the position of Senior Health Services Program Specialist, overseeing the development and execution of health and education programs at the Berkeley High School Health Center. You will manage budgets, grants, and contracts while supervising staff and coordinating with volunteers, schools, and community partners.

The role requires a public health- or policy-related degree with relevant experience; supervisory and budget experience are desirable.

Qualifications

  • Equivalent to graduation from a college or university with major course work in public health, health- or social-services related field, or health-related public policy; three years of experience as a health/social services professional.
  • One year supervisory experience which has included budget and program development is desirable.
  • A master's degree in public health, business administration, public administration or a closely related field is highly desirable.
  • Must be willing to work evenings and weekends.
  • Must be able to travel to various locations within and outside the City of Berkeley to meet program needs.
  • A valid California driver's license and satisfactory driving record are required.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the creation and execution of health and education services and programs; continuously assess the needs of various health center programs.
  • Supervise professional and support staff within the City; coordinate with volunteers, school district staff, and students.
  • Coordinate health services with other City departments and community-based organizations; manage operations and administration of budgets, grants, and contracts.

Education

Bachelor's degree in public health/related field
Master's degree in public health/public administration or related field (desirable)
