Job summary

Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) seeks a Health Program Auditor IV (Hybrid Option) to serve as a senior program specialist within the Audits and Investigations unit in Sacramento. Responsibilities include conducting financial and compliance audits related to Medi‑Cal, applying federal and state regulations, and guiding audit teams on complex cases.

This permanent, full‑time role requires up to 15% travel (overnight/weekends) and offers hybrid telework with generous state benefits.

Qualifications

• Extensive knowledge of governmental auditing standards, audit methodologies, and internal control frameworks.
• Advanced proficiency in planning, conducting, and documenting complex, financial, compliance, performance, and management audits.
• Strong knowledge of federal and state laws, regulations, policies, and contractual requirements affecting health care programs.
• Excellent written communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear, concise audit reports, audit appeal position statements, and correspondence.
• Excellent oral communication and presentation skills, including the ability to discuss findings with executive leadership, providers, contractors, and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• The HPA IV functions as a program specialist and performs other audit activities.
• Travel of up to 15% is routinely required and may include overnight, and / or weekend stays.
