Job summary

Humana, Inc. is seeking a Senior Research Scientist (Remote) to design and conduct rigorous outcomes studies evaluating clinical programs and to translate findings into strategic recommendations.

The role requires strong analytical judgment and the ability to navigate complex business questions, collaborating with clinical, operational, and business partners to drive performance improvement.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or PhD in Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Economics, Statistics, Health Services Research, Clinical Informatics, or a related quantitative discipline.
• 3+ years applying statistical, epidemiologic, econometric, or related methods to large datasets.
• Strong foundation in causal inference and study design including observational studies and RCTs.
• 3+ years manipulating and analyzing large datasets using Python, PySpark, R, SAS or similar tools.
• Strong analytical thinking and ability to translate complex problems into rigorous analytical approaches.
• Ability to select and apply appropriate methodologies to moderately complex to complex questions.
• Excellent written and verbal communication for non-technical audiences.
• Attention to detail, organization, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Ability to work independently and with cross-functional teams.
• Interest in healthcare and improving health outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Design and execute outcomes studies to evaluate clinical programs’ performance.
• Apply causal inference, epidemiologic, and statistical methods to estimate impact.
• Analyze medical, pharmacy, enrollment, and operational data to identify drivers and opportunities.
• Translate questions into well-defined analytical studies and hypotheses.
• Partner with stakeholders to convert insights into actionable recommendations.
• Develop high-quality analytical reports and executive readouts.
• Communicate complex methods and limitations clearly to diverse audiences.
• Determine appropriate analytical approaches in ambiguous situations.
• Manage multiple priorities while upholding rigor and reproducibility.
• Align analytical work with broader department and enterprise strategies.
