Senior Health Care Support Worker

The Fens has a new and exciting opportunity for a keen, enthusiastic and experienced Senior Healthcare Support Worker. We are looking to recruit an experienced Band 3 Senior Healthcare Support Worker who holds pride in providing outstanding and compassionate care towards patients within our service.

Applications are invited from highly motivated and dynamic candidates with a "can-do" attitude to deliver the Trust's Vision and Values and help to improve our patient experience within high dependency rehabilitation services. This is an exciting and challenging role which will afford the successful candidate to work as part of a supportive team that is focused on delivering high standards of care through evidence-based practice.

The Fens provides assessment and intervention for men with severe and enduring mental ill-health in a locked environment to support their ongoing recovery and social integration. The whole service is focused on working towards independence and recovery to enable service users to regain health and mental wellness, to live well in the community.

Main duties of the job

Working collaboratively with the nursing team to provide a high standard of care to the patients, ensuing their voices are heard and their care is person centred.

Escorting patients to appointments and visits

Spending 1:1 therapeutic time with the patients

To work within the policies, protocols, and clinical procedures of Lincolnshire Partnership NHS Trust and to promote competent working practice within an integrated multi-disciplinary team.

To liaise with the nurses and carry out assigned duties as a member of the multi-disciplinary mental health team.

To be prepared to work on own initiative as necessary and report to the Nurses

Demonstrate an awareness of service user and carer perspectives on the provision of treatment and continuing care.

Attend in-service training and other study/refresher days to meet individual, statutory, and service needs.

To work with service users to promote independence, maximising daily living skills

Assist in maintaining general and specific patient observations under the supervision of registered nursing staff.

Facilitate and participate in recreational and physical activities in the provision of health and social care to service users.

Always act in a manner to promotes and safeguards the interests and well-being of patients.

Actively promote a responsible, caring attitude at all times, treating all patients with dignity and respect.

Always act in a manner that ensures no patient is the subject of any form of abuse, and report abuse.

Person Specification

Qualifications

• Cavendish Care Certificate or willingness to work towards resourced by LPFT
• NVQ Level 2 in Care or equivalent
• NVQ level 3 in Promoting Independence or equivalent or working towards achievement.
• Certificate in Community Mental Health
• ECDL

Experience

• Previous relevant experience working with people with mental health problems at a HCSW grade or equivalent within a health and social care setting.
• Voluntary or working capacity with mental health service or equivalent

Skills

• A patient and empathic approach.
• Effective communication with service user, other members of the team and outside agencies.
• Clear accurate clinical note keeping
• Skills related to Physical healthcare interventions such as urine analysis, phlebotomy, TPR and BP etc, recording findings and informing supervising nurse of results
