Mercer is seeking an experienced Health Actuary to join our Actuarial and Financial Consulting teams in a hybrid role across U.S. offices.

As a Senior Lead Health Actuarial Consultant, you will manage client projects on health benefits strategy, including financial projections, plan design optimization, and renewal negotiations. You will lead engagements, review analyst work, perform complex cost projections with Excel and SAS, and mentor junior staff while advancing intellectual capital in

Qualifications

• BA/BS in actuarial science, math, statistics, finance, economics, or a related field.
• 10+ years’ experience in actuarial health and benefits consulting.
• Progress toward ASA designation.
• Client-facing experience.
• Strong analytical skills and MS Office proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Lead client engagements covering health & welfare actuarial work, projections, plan design, renewals, and benchmarking.
• Review junior staff analyses for actuarial accuracy and model usage.
• Perform complex cost projections using Excel, SAS, and other tools.
• Support AI/technology-enabled initiatives in the practice.
• Draft client reports and presentations summarizing findings and recommendations.
• Handle day-to-day client interactions and guide team members.
• Support business development by identifying growth opportunities and responding to proposals.
• Develop intellectual capital in health insurance actuarial services.
