Job summary

Mercer is seeking a Sr Health Actuarial Consultant to lead client engagements on health benefits strategies, including financial projections, plan design optimization, and renewal negotiations.

The role is hybrid, requiring in-office presence at least three days per week, with responsibilities guiding analysts and associates, reviewing analyses for actuarial soundness, and leveraging AI/tech tools to deliver reports and strategic recommendations.

Qualifications

• BA/BS degree in actuarial science, math, statistics, finance, economics, or a related field.
• Minimum 4 years' experience working in an actuarial field, with health and benefits consulting experience
• Progress toward ASA designation
• Client facing experience
• Strong analytical skills and MS Office proficiency

Responsibilities

• Lead routine client engagements, managing overall service delivery, strategy, financial evaluations, plan design, renewal, benchmarking and other underwriting health and welfare projects.
• Review data analyses conducted by junior staff to ensure actuarial soundness and support their development.
• Thrive in an environment embracing AI and technology-enabled tools.
• Perform and review complex analyses and cost projections using Excel, SAS, and other software, with potential specialization in healthcare-related insurance.
• Draft and review client reports or presentations to summarize findings and recommend strategies or solutions.
