Senior Hardware Validation Engineer

A day in the life of a Senior Hardware Validation Engineer at Midtronics involves leading efforts to ensure the reliability and performance of advanced battery diagnostic and testing equipment. This includes developing and executing validation plans for both 12V internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicle battery testers and systems for electric vehicle (EV) battery packs and modules. The role typically includes hands-on lab work, data analysis, and collaboration with cross-functional teams such as hardware design, firmware, and manufacturing to troubleshoot issues and validate design requirements.

The engineer is responsible for setting up and maintaining test environments, automating test procedures where possible, and documenting results in detailed reports. Regularly, they review test coverage, assess risk, and recommend design or process improvements based on test outcomes. The day is a balance of technical execution and communication, ensuring products meet quality standards before they reach customers.

Responsibilities

Job Functions:

• Develop and execute comprehensive test plans for new and existing hardware products.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and drive corrective actions to ensure testing is completed reliably and effectively.
• Generate formal documentation of test requirements, standards, procedures, reports, and approvals.
• Define and manage test schedules to support product development timelines.
• Serve as project lead for external laboratory engagements.
• Ownership of testing, qualification, and certification of platforms as a member of the design team.
• Define and administer standard testing methodologies, processes, and tools across all engagements.
• Monitor the effectiveness of testing and provide continuous improvement initiatives.
  
  
  

Position Requirements

• Minimum BS in Electrical Engineering
• Demonstrated ability to understand and diagnose complex electromechanical systems
• Strong understanding of test methodologies and supporting equipment
• Expertise in at least one data acquisition environment (ex. LabVIEW)
• Minimum of 10 years’ experience in a HW validation environment
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Passionate about learning and taking on challenging assignments
