AeroVironment, Inc. in San Diego is seeking a Senior Hardware Repair Technician to lead complex repair, refurbishment, and test activities for ruggedized systems.

You will diagnose, repair, and upgrade hardware, coordinate with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams, and mentor technicians while maintaining throughput and quality. The role requires hands-on expertise with RF assemblies, electronics, and system‑level debugging, along with strong documentation and change‑control discipline.

Qualifications

• Associate degree, technical certification, trade‑school training, or equivalent practical experience in electrical/electronic/mechanical fields.
• Minimum 5 years of related hardware repair, debugging, electronics manufacturing, systems integration, or defect analysis.
• Experience as a senior technician, technical lead, or SME without formal people management.

Responsabilités

• Serve as the senior technical lead for hardware repairs, warranty returns, service, refurbishment, and defect management.
• Receive, log, inspect, triage, and prioritize incoming returns and upgrade requests.
• Independently complete complex repairs, refurbishment, upgrade, and returned-material assignments.
• Coordinate repair priorities across repair, engineering, manufacturing, quality, and operations teams.
• Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and knowledge transfer to less-experienced technicians.
• Perform detailed diagnostics to isolate mechanical, electrical, firmware, connectivity, RF, and system‑level faults.
• Repair RF assemblies, connectors, cables, wire harnesses, and related components.
• Support firmware updates, calibration, burn‑in, and functional testing after repairs.
