Job summary

Apple Inc. is seeking a Hardware Reliability Engineer for Watch System Reliability in Cupertino, CA. You will define durability from architecture to mass production, develop accelerated tests, and lead cross-functional teams to mitigate risk and improve product robustness throughout the life cycle.

The role requires strong failure analysis skills, test-methodology development, and the ability to communicate complex data to executives. Travel up to 10% is supported as needed.

Qualifications

• BS degree in a relevant engineering or physics field and 7+ years of hardware reliability experience.
• Deep experience with physical failure analysis techniques (optical microscopy, X-ray/CT, SEM/EDS).
• Proven track record of developing reliability tests and automated fixtures.
• Strong ability to present technical risk and design trade-offs to cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Define durability and reliability strategy from concept to mass production.
• Design accelerated tests mapping real-world stresses to lab environments.
• Lead test infrastructure, fixtures, and lab readiness for milestones.
• Model reliability data to establish design margins and project risk.
• Lead root-cause investigations and drive corrective actions.
• Communicate risk and recommendations to leadership.
