Job summary

Raytheon Technologies is seeking a Hardware Quality Engineer to join the Operations Quality – Continuous Improvement Team in Portsmouth, RI. The role focuses on improving product quality and process excellence, leveraging CORE, APQP, and RCCA methods within a defense manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities include driving metrics, leading APQP efforts, and collaborating with Engineering, Program Management, and Production to implement effective corrective actions and prevent recurrence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) or related technical field.
• 5+ years related Quality Engineering experience.
• Experience with ISO 9001 and/or AS9100 quality management systems.
• Experience with external suppliers.
• Manufacturing process experience (assembly, inspection, test).
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Baseline factory metrics (Scrap, Rework, FPY, TUH, etc.) and identify top drivers for improvement.
• Lead APQP initiatives (PFMEA, control plans, SPC) using baseline metrics.
• Coordinate with Operations to drive containment and corrective actions.
• Perform process walks and operator observations to reduce variation.
• Support verification and validation of improvements.
