Job summary

Southwest Research Institute in the Tactical Aerospace Department is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to design, develop, test and troubleshoot power supplies and embedded avionics hardware for DoD systems.

The role requires leadership of hardware design teams, hands-on schematics and PCBA bring-up, plus travel for final integration testing at customer sites as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering required.
• Master's degree in Electrical Engineering preferred and may be considered in lieu of some experience.
• 8 years: Embedded hardware design and test of avionics grade power supplies and analog circuits.
• Leading hardware design and development teams for embedded systems.
• A valid/clear driver's license is required.

Responsibilities

• Lead hardware designs to meet all hardware/system requirements.
• Serves as LRU power supply and analog circuit SME.
• Verifies all architectural requirements are satisfied.
• Leads and mentors junior engineering staff in the development of hardware/analog designs.
• Leads Junior Engineering staff in the development and testing of embedded avionics hardware on MIL-SPEC flight-worthy hardware.
• If necessary, travel to customer sites to support final integration testing.

Objectives of this Role:

• Perform Electrical Power Supply electrical design, development and test activities.
• Provide subject matter expertise in power supply and analog circuit design.
• Provide engineering oversight for complex embedded designs.
• Develop schematics, PCBA bring up, test, and troubleshoot for embedded systems.
• Support digital circuit designs and integration of firmware and software.
  
  

Daily and Monthly Responsibilities:

• Lead hardware designs to ensure all hardware/system requirements are met.
• Serves as LRU power supply and analog circuit SME.
