Job summary

Pentangle Tech Services | P5 Group in Michigan seeks a Senior Functional Safety Engineer to own Functional Safety work products and lead ISO 26262 activities across the battery system development lifecycle. You will drive safety deliverables and coordinate with engineering, manufacturing, quality, suppliers, and customers to ensure requirements are clearly defined, implemented, verified, and maintained.

The role requires hands-on hardware design, safety analysis, and experience with HSIS and ISO

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience in automotive functional safety.
• Strong experience with ISO 26262 functional safety activities.
• Experience preparing design documents, BOMs, test plans, component selection, and cost optimization (VAVE).
• Functional Safety Analysis (FuSA), DFMEA, FMEDA, DFA, and FTA.
• Hands-on experience with Ansys Medini and MS Excel.
• Experience with WCCA (Worst Case Circuit Analysis) using Mathcad and MS Excel.
• Knowledge of high-level block diagrams, schematic capture, BOM, and PCB layout design guidelines.
• Hands-on experience in hardware design, testing, and end-to-end product development.
• Experience with Hardware Software Interface Specification (HSIS).
• Knowledge of ISO 26262 Part 5 – Hardware Safety Lifecycle Activities.
• Experience in hardware safety requirements specification and architectural definition.
• Experience with hardware module design and safety work product creation.
• Knowledge of hardware architectural metrics evaluation (FIT).
• Experience with hardware safety analysis, including FMEDA and DFMEA.
• Ability to perform hardware circuit analysis and provide design recommendations.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the technical owner for Functional Safety work products.
• Lead the technical execution of ISO 26262 activities throughout the product development lifecycle for high-voltage battery systems.
• Develop and maintain technical safety deliverables and collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, quality, suppliers, and customers to ensure safety requirements are defined, implemented, verified, and maintained.
