Job summary

Katalyst-Healthcares- is seeking a Senior Functional Safety Engineer to own ISO 26262 activities for high-voltage Li-ion battery systems. You will lead safety work products, collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, quality, suppliers, and customers to ensure defined, verified, and maintained safety requirements throughout the lifecycle.

The role requires hands-on experience with ISO 26262 and functional safety tools such as Ansys Medini, Mathcad, and MS Excel, plus hardware design and safety

Qualifications

• 6+ years in Automotive Functional Safety.
• Experience with ISO 26262 activities and deliverables.
• Proficient with Ansys Medini, MS Excel, and Mathcad.
• Experience in hardware design, safety analysis, testing and end-to-end product development.
• Knowledge of high-voltage Li-ion battery systems and hardware safety lifecycle activities.

Responsibilities

• Lead Functional Safety work products and ISO 26262 activities.
• Prepare design docs, BOMs, test plans, and cost optimization deliverables.
• Perform FuSA with DFMEA, FMEDA, DFA, and FTA.
• Use Medini and Excel for analyses and WCCA with Mathcad.
• Develop hardware blocks, schematics, BOMs, and layout guidelines.
• Contribute to end-to-end hardware design, testing, and product development.
• Define HSIS and hardware safety lifecycle artifacts per ISO 26262 Part 5.
• Evaluate architectural metrics including FIT; provide design recommendations.

Job Description:

The Senior Functional Safety Engineer will serve as the technical owner for Functional Safety work products and lead the technical execution of ISO 26262 functional safety activities throughout the product development lifecycle for high-voltage lithium-ion battery systems.

The role involves developing and maintaining technical safety deliverables and supporting evidence for compliant product development. The engineer will collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, suppliers, and customers to ensure Functional Safety requirements are defined, implemented, verified, and maintained throughout the development lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare design documents, BOMs, test plans, component selections, and cost optimization (VAVE) deliverables.
• Perform Functional Safety Analysis (FuSA) using ISO 26262, including:
  • DFMEA
  • FMEDA
  • DFA
  • FTA
• Use Ansys Medini and MS Excel for functional safety analysis.
• Perform Worst Case Circuit Analysis (WCCA) using Mathcad and MS Excel.
• Develop high-level block diagrams, schematic captures, BOMs, and PCB layout designs and guidelines.
• Participate in end-to-end hardware design, testing, and product development.
• Develop and maintain Hardware-Software Interface Specifications (HSIS).
• Execute hardware safety lifecycle activities in accordance with ISO 26262 Part 5.
• Develop hardware safety requirements specifications.
• Define hardware architecture and perform safety analysis.
• Design hardware modules and create associated work products.
• Evaluate hardware architectural metrics, including Failure In Time (FIT).
• Perform hardware safety analyses, including FMEDA and DFMEA.
• Conduct hardware circuit analysis and provide design recommendations.

Required Qualifications:

• 6+ years of experience in Automotive Functional Safety.
• Strong hands-on experience with ISO 26262 functional safety activities.
• Experience with Ansys Medini, MS Excel, and Mathcad.
• Experience in hardware design, safety analysis, testing, and end-to-end product development.
• Knowledge of high-voltage lithium-ion battery systems and hardware safety lifecycle activities.
