Job summary

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering (or closely related field).
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in electronic hardware design and development, with ownership of designs from concept through production and sustaining support.
  • Expert-level proficiency with PCB design tools (Altium Designer preferred; KiCad, OrCAD, Eagle, etc.).
  • Deep understanding of analog and digital circuit design, including component selection and manufacturability.
  • Advanced knowledge of electrical test and measurement methods and development of repeatable verification tests.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, including root-cause analysis.
  • Excellent communication skills across engineering, manufacturing, quality, and field teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop interns and less-experienced engineers.
  • Excellent planning and execution skills to manage risk and meet objectives on schedule.
  • Strong decision-making and ability to work under pressure with incomplete data.
  • Experience directing cross-functional project work across engineering, manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and field support.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and translate customer, regulatory, and internal needs into clear, testable requirements. Drive requirements clarity across stakeholders.
  • Own development of hardware specifications and interfaces for subsystems; make architecture decisions and guide layouts.
  • Plan and execute proof-of-concept builds to retire technical risk early; define approach and success criteria.
  • Design and own complex schematics and PCB layouts with Altium; review layouts created by others.
  • Define and execute verification plans; prototype, debug, and validate circuits to meet specs and safety requirements.
  • Direct cross-functional design reviews, drive closure on action items and ensure quality.
  • Architect product verification testers and procedures; balance coverage and cost with internal/external partners.
  • Develop and maintain manufacturing documentation and ECN updates to support production.
  • Provide advanced support and training to installation/repair technicians and field services.
  • Create and maintain high-quality engineering docs and communicate status and risks to stakeholders.
  • Coordinate testing in end-use environments and drive design improvements for reliability.
  • Lead component lifecycle management and substitutions across product lines.
  • Mentor interns and less-experienced engineers; share best practices.
